The Challenge
The MOD Defence Equipment & Support organisation (DE&S) required a robust Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) system to manage and analyse equipment failures. The challenge included overcoming delays in contract award, meeting project milestones, and ensuring a smooth transition from the incumbent supplier, including the transfer of staff under TUPE regulations.
Our Approach
RED Scientific designed and developed LEFRAS, to equip DE&S with the information required for its endorsed Future Support vision. The LEFRAS application, built on Oracle technologies and integrated with Microsoft Power BI, provides advanced analytics and intuitive user interfaces. The RED Scientific LEFRAS Support Team performs data sourcing, cleansing, user training, helpdesk functions, and delivers actionable insights.
Output
LEFRAS delivers an innovative and intuitive service that makes available high-quality data for advanced analytics to support rapid identification of safety issues, evidence of related past equipment failures, trend analysis and obsolescence management. It also enables availability analysis using real-world failure and repair data and exemplifies RED Scientific’s broader capability in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)/ Integrated Product Support (IPS), linking seamlessly with our support solutions to drive improved decision-making, regulatory compliance, and through-life performance improvement.
Feedback
Users have reported that the new LEFRAS solution is more intuitive and easier to use than the previous system. The high availability infrastructure meets stringent security requirements, and the continuous deployment of the latest technologies ensures the software remains modern and secure. The built-in feedback utility allows for ongoing improvements based on user suggestions, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
