Active wheelchair business GRX Life takes over RED workshop

At the start of 2021 active wheelchair specialists GRX Life had a problem. The lease on their Alton showroom and workshop was up and facing the prospect of a big jump in rent they needed new premises.

Enter Julie Callow, RED employee and friend of GRX Life MD (and Paralympian, TeamGB Swimmer) Ryan Gratrix.  Julie knew that the RED’s lab and workshop premises in Bentworth were unused and that, with onsite improvements, could be made suitable for GRX and their clients.

RED MD Yvonne Whiteley bought into the project and gave the go-ahead for extensive work to improve access and showroom, workspace and other facilities for wheelchair users.   Some of the structural work, paid for by GRX, was contracted out while Julie and her husband did much of the rest.

GRX moved in at the start of April. They now have a secure, affordable, customer-friendly space, with heaps of wheelchair-friendly customisation work.  “We’re so thankful that we are able to upgrade and grow as a business”, said Ryan.

It is also very positive for RED.  “We no longer needed the workshop for our own business” said Yvonne Whiteley.  “We now have a regular rental income coming in and it’s great to see a brilliant business like GRX make use of the upgraded facilities”.
